According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the fire broke out at Central Plaza Complex at Dindoshi in Malad East.

The officials of BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade, and eight fire tenders were present at the spot to douse the fire.

The fire was confined to some shops on fifth and sixth floors of the Central Plaza located at Daftari Road, said officials.

They added that smoke had engulfed the two floors as they continued to douse the fire ascribed Level 2 status around 1.30 pm.

Earlier on Wednesday night, a fire had broken out in the Bombay Talkies compound in the Malad west area.
