Speaking to indianexpress.com, Varun expressed the challenges of maintaining secrecy, stating, "Initially, when I wanted to keep it under wraps, it was difficult to balance." Despite skepticism about the feasibility of concealing a celebrity relationship, Varun pointed out, "It did work! I am a sitting example."

However, he acknowledged the strain it brought, mentioning the occasional desire to escape public scrutiny and unwind. 

"It did work but it has its difficulties. Sometimes you just want to break this pressure off, go out and chill,” he said.

After five years of courtship, they made their engagement official in June 2023
