Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious film Kannappa hit theatres on Friday. The film, which has stellar cameos from Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar, received mixed reviews. After the release, Vishnu, who plays the titular role, spoke about what went wrong with the film based on mythology. At a press meet in Hyderabad, Vishnu said that they had to let go of several good scenes due to unimpressive VFX work.
On the edit table, Vishnu said, they had to make the decision to remove some strong scenes because of the VFX. The film, directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, was edited by Anthony. “The editor, director, and I sacrificed some excellent scenes in the film because the VFX was not on the level we expected it to be,” he said.
Vishnu said that this was a learning experience for him. “It’s a massive lesson for me, though. It’s such a lesson that I’ll never repeat that mistake again. But a lot of people watching the film didn’t even realise it. The team was happy that no one cared about it,” said Vishnu.
