Hindu married women across India, more particularly the northern states, will celebrate Karwa Chauth It marks a day when wives observe a 'nirjala' fast, without food or water, for the long life and well-being of their husbands. 

The festival is being observed from 10:54 pm on October 9 to 7:38 pm on October 10 by women across the country.

The important aspect of the festival is that the fast is broken after the sighting of the moon, which holds a vital role in the day’s ritual.

While the fasting time for today is between 6:19 am and 8:13 pm, according to various sources, these are the timings for moonrise today.
