Mumbai: Assamese man held for defrauding Goregaon businessman

Roopjyoti Bora duped the businessman of R53 lakh in 2022; he was also wanted by Tezpur, Kokrajhar, and Jorhat police stations in Assam for multiple fraud cases

The Dindoshi police have arrested a 37-year-old man accused of defrauding a Mumbai-based businessman of Rs 53 lakh. The incident took place in 2022 and the accused had been absconding since. He was arrested on May 19 in Assam with the help of local police.

According to the police, the fraudster, identified as Roopjyoti Bora, a resident of Assam, was also wanted in connection with multiple fraud cases in the state. According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, the Dindoshi police laid a trap and successfully arrested Bora.
