A 35-year-old engineer from Thane has been scammed out of Rs 62 lakh by a woman who promised high returns on investments. The man was lured into the scheme via WhatsApp and transferred the money, only to receive no returns.

A 35-year-old engineer from Thane has reportedly been duped of approximately Rs 62 lakh after he was enticed by promises of lucrative returns on investments. The police have registered a case following his complaint, and investigations are ongoing.
As per the complaint, the victim was first approached by a woman named ‘Anaya’ via WhatsApp. Claiming to offer substantial returns through share trading, the woman persuaded the man to invest large sums of money. Believing her claims, the engineer, employed at a private company, transferred Rs 62.39 lakh between September and November.
