A 35yearold engineer from Thane has reportedly been duped of approximately Rs 62 lakh after he was enticed by promises of lucrative returns on investments The police have registered a case following his complaint and investigations are ongoingAs per the complaint the victim was first approached by a woman named lsquoAnayarsquo via WhatsApp Claiming to offer substantial returns through share trading the woman persuaded the man to invest large sums of money Believing her claims the engineer employed at a private company transferred Rs 6239 lakh between September and NovemberDespite his investment the man received no returns and found himself unable to reach the woman for clarification Distressed by the lack of response he decided to file a complaint at the Kalwa police station on Wednesday In his statement the man revealed that he had been in frequent contact with Anaya who had lured him into the scheme but after making several attempts to contact her in hopes of retrieving his money his efforts proved unsuccessfulThe police official confirmed that the case had been registered and that a thorough investigation was underway It is believed that the woman operated from an unknown location using online platforms to reach out to potential victims particularly targeting individuals looking to make investments in hopes of high returnsThe authorities are now working to trace the woman and track down her whereabouts As of now it remains unclear whether she is part of a larger network involved in similar scamsThane software engineer duped of Rs 91 lakh in share trading fraud 3 bookedThe police on Monday said that a 40yearold womansoftware engineerfrom Thane district in Maharashtra has allegedly been cheated of Rs 9105 lakh in a share trading fraud reported news agency PTIThe police have registered a case against three persons in this connectionThe accused contacted the Thane software engineer resident of Shankeshwar Nagar in Dombivli between July 2 and August 6 and lured her into share trading assuring her of good returns an official from Manpada police stationsaid reported PTIFor the trading in shares they made the Thane software engineer a member of different groups on social media and she invested Rs 9105000 while hoping for good returns he said reported PTIHowever when she did not get the returns as promised and the accused ignored her calls she lodged a complaint with the police on SundayBased on the complaint a case was registered against three persons under relevant legal provisions the police saidIn another case theMumbai policehave arrested four persons from Delhi who were allegedly part of a gang involved in credit card fraud an official said on Saturday reported PTIThe accused Sajid Khan 22 Sameer Khan 24 Parvez Khan 25 and Nadeem Chaudhary 21 were recently arrested from Delhis Mehrauli locality the official said reported PTIAs per a complaint by a man in May one of the accused contacted him over the phone posing as a bank official and offered to increase the limit on his credit card he saidThe complainant was asked to fill in his bank details on a website and using the details the accused managed to access his mobile phone and siphoned off Rs 91000 from his account the official said reported PTIThe cyber squad and crime investigation squad of theKalachowki policeanalysed the call records and bank transaction logs of the mobile phones used in the crime and contacted the bank to locate the ATM from where the accused withdrew the money he said reported PTISajid was traced to Chhattarpur and apprehended with the help of the local police following which the others were subsequently nabbed the official said reported PTIThe accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act he saidWith inputs from PTI
