Fire breaks out near Thane's Ghodbunder Road, no injuries reported

A fire broke out near Thanes Ghodbunder Road the civic officials said on MondayAccording to the Regional Disaster Management Cell RDMC of the Thane Municipal Corporation TMC the incident occurred around 829 am near the Regal Wine Shop in Waghbil close to Thanes Ghodbunder RoadThe fire was caused by an electric cable belonging to Mahavitaran which ignited along with nearby garbage according to the RDMC of the Thane Municipal CorporationEmergency services including Mahavitaran employees and the local fire brigade were swiftly deployed to the scene A rescue vehicle was also dispatched to assist Fortunately no injuries were reported and the fire was successfully extinguished according to the RDMC of the Thane Municipal CorporationSeven killed as fire breaks out in shopcumresidential building in MumbaiSeven persons including three minors were killed after a fire broke out in a doublestorey shopcumresidential structure in Mumbai on Sunday morning a fire official saidThe incident took place at 520 am at Siddharth Colony in Chembur area he saidMaharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later visited the site He announced a highlevel probe into the incident and a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceasedThe ground floor of the structure was used as a shop and the upper floor as residence an official saidThe blaze was confined to the electric wiring and installations in the shop at the ground floor and spread to the upper floor he said adding it was a levelone fireSeven persons were injured in the incident They were taken to the Rajawadi Hospital where all of them were declared brought dead the official saidFire engines water tankers and other assistance were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused by 915 am the official saidThe deceased have been identified as Paris Gupta 7 Manju Prem Gupta 30 Anita Gupta 39 Prem Gupta 30 Narendra Gupta 10 Vidhi Chediram Gupta 15 and Gitadevi Dharamdev Gupta 60 he saidCM Shinde visited the site and met family members of the victims Later talking to reporters he said the incident was very unfortunate The chief minister announced a highlevel probe in the incident and a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceasedThe cost of treatment of the injured persons will be borne by the government he saidIf the slum rehabilitation work has run into hurdles the issues would be looked into he addedThe CM was accompanied by Union minister Ramdas AthawaleWith inputs from Agencies
