The newly constructed Panvel-Karjat suburban corridor reached a significant milestone on Saturday as the first train made its way onto the route. The End Unloading Rake (EUR), a specialised train formation designed for transporting and unloading long rail panels, was led by a diesel locomotive. This marks a crucial step towards the completion of the highly anticipated railway link.
The Panvel-Karjat corridor is set to enhance connectivity between two historic townships, Panvel and Karjat, via a newly developed alignment. The project boasts some of the suburban system’s longest tunnels and bridges, demonstrating the scale and engineering excellence involved in its construction.
