The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for Maharashtra from May 19 to 25. A low-pressure area is expected to form over the east-central Arabian Sea, off the Karnataka coast, around May 22, which will significantly affect the weather patterns across Maharashtra, leading to an increase in rainfall activity next week.

The Konkan region, including the adjoining ghat areas of central Maharashtra, is expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places during this period. Starting Saturday, the Konkan, central Maharashtra, and Marathwada regions are likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, with speeds ranging between 40 and 50 kilometre per hour (km/h), till May 20.
