<p>Construction of a new bridge (not the kind you&rsquo;re imagining) is underway at Khambacha Pada in the Aarey Forest. A new community space called Nature and Traditional Ecological Knowledge Conservation Centre will aim to &ldquo;bridge the gap between tribal folk knowledge and urban Mumbaikars,&rdquo; shared Sanjiv Valsan, founder of Waghoba Habitat Foundation, the collective helming the project. &ldquo;The Centre will function as a space for two-way education activities, aggregating wild produce from Aarey and distributing it to the city, and research and development of wild food products and medicinal plants,&rdquo; he added. Those keen to play their part in helping the Centre to find its footing, can head to waghoba.org.</p>
<h2>A comeback to Kala Ghoda</h2>

<p>An old familiar landmark will return to Kala Ghoda this week. After a six-year hiatus, the Artists&rsquo; Centre will reopen at their new venue in the Army Navy building this evening. &ldquo;It is like coming back home,&rdquo; revealed honorary chairperson and trustee of Artists&rsquo; Centre, Brinda Miller (right). Established as the Bombay Art History Salon by Rudi and Albrecht Von Leyden in 1950, the society was later renamed the Artists&rsquo; Centre, and was housed at the Ador House till 2019.</p>

<p>After discussions over the last couple of years, the society finally arrived at the former ArtEntrance gallery space. &ldquo;The opening was always planned in May, but we waited till the previous bookings were completed. Everyone was keen for a return to Kala Ghoda, and we will reopen today with a showing of Silent Voyages: Brushstrokes by the sea by Nagnath Mankeshwar,&rdquo; she told this diarist. &nbsp;</p>
<h2>We&rsquo;re all eyes</h2>

<p>While the world goes digital, we found nostalgia pasted on paan shops and food stalls in Bandra East yesterday. &lsquo;Support our Bandra East boys. Thanks,&rsquo; said the no-frills flyers for a YouTube channel, Fun Da Men Talli. Upon closer inspection, we learnt that the channel is run by a local resident duo trying to make it big online with their street prank videos. To our relief, the pranks were harmless, and all in good fun. That&rsquo;s a job well done, Bandra East boys.</p>
<h2>It&rsquo;s raining colours</h2>

<p>The Fr Agnel Ashram in Bandra West will bloom in full colour this monsoon, thanks to city-based art and culture platform 3 Art House. Last weekend, volunteers across age groups added their own masterstrokes to a wall mural in the hallways of the charitable institution during a community session. &ldquo;With the Ashram revamped, we&rsquo;ll look for more charitable spaces that could use a splash of colour. It&rsquo;s a great way for families to bond while contributing towards a greater cause,&rdquo; said founder Jasmeet Kaur.</p>
<h2>One last hurdle to cross</h2>

<p>One of the fastest female jump ropers in India, 15-year-old athlete Bhumika Nemade has bagged multiple accolades across the world. Ahead of the World Championship in Japan this July, her biggest hurdle now is financial aid for the international trip. Along with the help of her coach, Aman Verma, Nemade has opted for the crowdfunding route. Verma said, &ldquo;Not many educational institutions support a sport like jump roping, which is still in its nascent stage in India. Bhumika has an impeccable record of 194 skips in 30 seconds.
