The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar district in Maharashtra and predicted heavy rains.
According to the weather department, "Heavy to very heavy rainfall was very likely at isolated places."
Mumbai has been witnessing moderate rains since Friday morning. The IMD had issued a yellow alert for September 5 which was on Friday evening upgraded to an orange alert, forecasting heavy rainfall.
