After an intense spell of rain in Mumbai and parts of Maharashtra since the early hours of Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued an orange alert. The orange alert was issued for Mumbai and other suburban districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall. 

Earlier, IMD stated that Mumbai on Tuesday will experience generally cloudy skies that will prevail throughout the day, with moderate to heavy rain likely at isolated spots.

Since Tuesday morning, Mumbai has been receiving light rain, but the latest nowcast warning predicts that the city might experience heavy showers during the afternoon.
