Mumbai issued over 20 lakh traffic challans in 2025, says Devendra Fadnavis

More than 20 lakh traffic violations were recorded in Mumbai city and suburbs in 2025, with illegal parking accounting for nearly half of the offences, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Wednesday.
Responding to a question raised by MLC Manisha Kayande during the ongoing Budget Session, Fadnavis said the Mumbai Traffic Police and Regional Transport Office (RTO) are taking action against motorists violating traffic rules under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
