A soil slide was reported from a landslide-prone area in Bhandup (West) on Tuesday evening, prompting a swift response from civic and emergency services. The incident occurred near Sai Niketan CHS, opposite Omega School in Khindipada, one of Mumbai’s 32 major dangerous spots identified by authorities.
According to information received from the S Ward Control, the incident was first reported on July 22 at around 7:32 PM. Mud and loose soil reportedly slid down from an adjacent hilly area, posing a threat to nearby structures.
As per the latest update received at 11:15 AM on July 23, Junior Engineer Datta Patil from the S Ward Building and Factory department confirmed that portions of two already vacated houses had collapsed due to the slide. Additionally, three to four adjacent houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure to ensure residents’ safety.
