Thane celebrates Maharashtra Day with tributes and sanitation worker honours

On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, Thane Municipal Corporation held a flag hoisting ceremony followed by a special felicitation of 12 outstanding sanitation workers to also mark International Labour Day

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) commemorated the 66th Maharashtra Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and respect at its headquarters in Pachpakhadi. The celebration began at 7:15 am with Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao hoisting the national flag in the presence of senior officials, employees, and dignitaries. The ceremony was conducted against the backdrop of the national and state anthems, with Additional Commissioners Sandeep Malvi and Prashant Rode, along with staff, saluting the Tricolour.

Following the flag hoisting, a felicitation ceremony was held in honour of sanitation workers on the occasion of International Labour Day. Twelve exemplary sanitation workers were recognised for their dedication and service. Commissioner Rao presented each of them with a shawl, a memento, and a holy basil (Tulsi) plant as tokens of appreciation. The honoured workers were Prakash Balakrishna Potdar, Kishori Budhaji Dalvi, Vishal Sakharam Mohite, Suresh Kalu Chaudhary, Sarubai Dhanraj Shewalkar, Nagesh Shyam Kamble, Pratibha Gajanan Gaikar, Lata Ramesh Kamble, Megha Laxman Dudhawade, Mayuri Mahesh Mohite, Ganesh Shivaji Shidardi, and Nagnath Ganpat Vanchewad.
