Amidst searches conducted by the Enforcement Directorate at his residence, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, stated on Friday that central agencies are being misused to target opposition leaders. However, he expressed confidence in the judiciary and assured his cooperation with them.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out renewed searches at Baghel's residence, located in Bhilai, Durg district. These actions are purportedly part of an investigation into an alleged liquor scam connected to money laundering allegations involving his son, Chaitanya Baghel, official sources stated, reported news agency PTI.
The ED's raid on the residence shared by the father and son was conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following the receipt of new evidence in the case.
