Footpath schools pave way for slum kids to join mainstream

These children ufffd prone to crime, addiction to drugs or liquor, abuse, exploitation, etc ufffd are being provided informal counselling sessions by an NGO, following which the volunteers facilitate the enrollment of these kids in civic, govt schools

Sona (name changed), an eight year-old girl from Phule vasahat in Vishrantwadi, is an orphan and stays with a distant relative. Till recently she was compelled to beg on the streets for food and money. But, her life transformed after she started going to ‘school’ for a few hours every day.
