At least 28 people were injured after the state transport bus they were travelling in crashed into a tanker in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Sunday, an official said, the PTI reported.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/maharashtra-state-road-transport-corporation-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC)</a> bus was on its way from Kalyan in Thane district to Chalisgaon in Nashik district when the accident took place, he said.
The bus rammed into the rear side of a tanker near the Pimpalgaon Baswant toll plaza on the Mumbai-Agra national highway in Niphad taluka around 4 pm, he said.
The official said that 26 passengers and the driver and conductor of the MSRTC bus were injured in the accident.
Those injured in the accident have been taken to nearby private hospitals, he said, adding that the exact reason behind the accident is yet to be established.
Earlier this month, a woman passenger was killed on Saturday after an MSRTC bus was hit by a private bus in Buldhana district in Maharashtra, a police official said, news agency PTI had reported.
The accident had took place at Nandri on Chikhli-Mehkar road when the MSRTC bus was on its way to Latur, he said.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, one person was killed and three others were injured when a truck toppled on their car on the Mumbai-Nashik highway in Maharashtra's Thane district in the wee hours of Sunday, the police said, reported the PTI.
According to the news agency, the accident took place at around 1.30 am at Mankoli on the highway when the car was heading towards Nashik while the truck was going towards Mumbai, police inspector Mahesh Patil said.
The truck, having registration number of Karnataka, skidded and fell on the car, he said.
One of the car occupants was crushed to death in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-nine-injured-after-msrtc-bus-overturns-in-ajanta-ghat-in-chhatrapati-sambhajinagar-23347362" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">accident</a> while three other persons received injuries and they were rushed to a hospital in Bhiwandi, the official said.
The body of the deceased person was sent to a government hospital for postmortem, he said, as per the PTI.
