Man, woman held for trying to implicate cop in false rape case

Officials of the Vishrantwadi police station arrested a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman for trying to implicate an official from the Khadaki police station in a false rape case.

The two were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and would be produced in the court today. The accused Prakash Lanke called up the police control room and said that PSI Bhutambare had to rape a woman in an intoxicated state. Soon, a team of officials from the Vishrantwadi police station reached the spot and discovered that Bhutambare was locked inside the room.u00a0

“On Wednesday evening, PSI Bhutambare had gone to Lanke’s house to investigate a case related to abatement to suicide. Soon after Bhutambare entered the house, Lanke called Kamal Kapase. Both of them are residents of Anirudhha society in Vishrantwadi. He then asked her to sit besides Bhutambare and clicked the pictures,” Inspector P B Gophane of the Vishrantwadi police station said.
