19-year-old jumped onto the tracks to help a stranger who was mowed down by a train; the victim died an hour later, as there was delay in taking him to the hospital
When 19-year-old college student Rohit Surve saw an injured man writhing in pain on the railway tracks after he was run over by a local train, he did what very few Mumbaikars would do. Putting his life at risk, Surve, defying all odds, miraculously pulled the injured man to the side before the next train approached the platform.

Act of bravery: An unidentified man in his 20s flings himself in front of an approaching 11.28 pm Dadar-Kalyan train which is making its way to platform 2 at Thane railway station on Monday, and is run over by the train. With the CST-Kasara train slated to arrive in three minutes, Rohit Surve, standing on platform 3 and seemingly unconcerned for his own safety, climbs over the railings, crosses the tracks, and pulls aside the injured man to safety in the nick of time, while the GRP officials look on.
