The order came after a petition was filed by the father of a student who died after falling from a hostel terrace when she was at Aakash Byju’s Institute in Vishakapatnam in July. The court has notified all states and Union Territories to implement these rules within two months

The Supreme Court released a 15-pointer guideline to improve the mental health of students in light of the rise in student suicide cases in India. The bench, which comprised Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, maintained that mental well-being was a part of Article 21 Right to Life.
The Court said that an “education is meant to liberate, not burden the learner, and that its true success lies not in grades or rankings but in the holistic growth of a human being.”
