The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday formally authorised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda to choose the alliance's vice presidential candidate, as the Election Commission began the nomination process on Thursday by issuing an official notification, reported the PTI.
The decision was confirmed by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who stated that the NDA leaders unanimously agreed to entrust the selection to PM Modi and Nadda. Notably, both are Leaders of the House in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively.
Given the NDA's strong majority in the electoral college -- comprising members from both Houses of Parliament -- the alliance’s candidate is expected to easily win the election.
