Britain’s King Charles III consoled the Indian cricket team following their heartbreaking defeat to England in the third Test at Lord’s on Monday. The monarch hosted the team at Clarence House on Tuesday, just under 24 hours after their dramatic 22-run loss in the final session of the match.

India, set a target of 193, appeared within reach of a historic win before England turned the tide late on Day Five. The match came to a crushing end for the visitors when Mohammed Siraj, the last man in, was dismissed in unfortunate fashion. Attempting to defend a delivery from England spinner Shoaib Bashir, Siraj saw the ball sharply turn off the surface, strike his bat, and spin back onto the stumps to dislodge a bail.
