Riding on half-centuries by Josh Inglis (42-ball 73) and opener Priyansh Arya (62 off 35 balls), Punjab Kings booked their place in Thursday’s Qualifier 1 with a seven-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in the penultimate league fixture of the Indian Premier League here on Monday.
Chasing 185, PBKS reached the target with nine balls to spare, thanks to a 109-run stand between Inglis and Arya. Inglis’s knock was laced with three sixes and nine fours, while Arya smashed nine fours and two maximums. Spinner Mitchell Santner (2-41) was the pick of the bowlers for MI.
The victory ensured PBKS secured a Top-2 spot with 19 points, while MI (16 points) remained in fourth place and will play the Eliminator on Friday.
