Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill once again found himself agonizingly close to a century, falling for 90 off 55 balls in their IPL 2025 encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 21. In a moment of misfortune, Gill attempted to swat a full toss from Vaibhav Arora but ended up picking out Rinku Singh at deep square leg, cutting short what looked like a potential match-winning innings.

This marked the second occasion in Gill's IPL career where he was dismissed in the 90s, the first being a 96-run effort against Punjab Kings in 2022. With this latest near-miss, Gill has now joined an elite but unfortunate club, becoming only the fourth Indian batter in IPL history to be dismissed in the 90s two or more times. The others on the list include Ruturaj Gaikwad (3 times), Virat Kohli (2), and KL Rahul (2).
