The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the arbiter of laws of the game, has stated that it is not against the Spirit of Cricket to run out a non-striker who is seeking to gain an advantage by leaving his/her ground early, in reference to the ongoing 'Mankad' controversy.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the Kings XI Punjab skipper, dismissed Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler in their match earlier this week by removing the bails at the non-striker's end just as he was set to deliver a ball.
