Former India captain late Ajit Wadekar and present ODI skipper Rohit Sharma, who have brought glory to Mumbai and Indian cricket, deservingly have stands in their names at the Wankhede Stadium. The stands were unveiled at a function organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) last Friday, May 16.
Coincidentally, 18 years ago, Rohit, who was part of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy-winning team, was felicitated by Wadekar in the same month in 2007 during a function organised by Sports Promotion Group (SPG) at the Bengal Club in Shivaji Park. Then chief guest Wadekar had honoured the entire Mumbai team, including Rohit.
