Riding high on Deepak Soreng’s brace Mumbai Port Authority (MbPT) booked their place in the final of the Mumbai Hockey Super League with an emphatic 4-2 win over Central Railway (CR) in an intense semi-final clash at Don Bosco High School (Matunga) turf yesterday.
CR drew first blood in the 20th minute as skipper Nizam Mohammad sent a precise strike low into the bottom-left corner to give his side a 1-0 lead. The goal sparked MbPT into action, and their efforts bore fruit just before half-time as Soreng confidently converted a penalty corner in the 29th minute to level the match at 1-1.
