Maharashtra govt makes e-KYC mandatory for Ladki Bahin scheme beneficiaries

The Maharashtra government has made eKYC mandatory for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin scheme giving them two months to complete the process reported news agency PTIA government resolution GR was issued regarding this on Thursday an official saidThe Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana provides monthly assistance of Rs 1500 to women in the age group of 2165 whose annual family income is not more than Rs 25 lakhWomen and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare on Thursday said An eKYC facility has been made available on the web portal ladakibahinmaharashtragovin for all beneficiaries of the scheme They are requested to complete the eKYC process in the next two monthsThis process is simple and convenient and to maintain transparency in the Ladki Bahin scheme and ensure regular benefits to eligible women everyone should complete it she said in a post on XThis process will also be useful to avail the benefits of other government schemes in the future Tatkare saidAccording to the GR eligible women must complete their verification and authentication within two months to receive the monthly assistance in their bank accountsSimilarly if Aadhaar authentication is not done the benefits will be withheld it saidBeneficiaries will have to carry out the eKYC process compulsorily every year the GR statedThe government had recently revealed that nearly 2634 lakh ineligible beneficiaries including men had enrolled in the Ladki Bahin scheme and received the monthly allowanceAs per government data 225 crore women receive money under the scheme which was launched in July 2024Earlier The Maharashtra government wont stop the popular Ladki Bahin programme and instead is committed to creating one crore Lakhpati Didis who will earn Rs 1 lakh every year Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday reported news agency PTIThe campaign aims to ensure that every village receives the benefits of the central and state schemesMaharashtra will not prosper unless villages in the state register progress he said It is not possible until the poor labourers and villages prosper he saidThe CM asserted that the Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana under which eligible women beneficiaries receive monthly assistance of Rs 1500 wont be discontinuedSome people claimed that the Ladki Bahin scheme will be scrapped Our sisters should not believe them We wont just stop at providing Rs 1500 We are starting womenled credit societies in villages which will provide employment opportunities to women he said reported PTIThe government aims to create one crore Lakhpati Didis women who will earn Rs 1 lakh or more in a year he said adding that women are being provided with an interestfree loan of Rs 1 lakh reported PTIOur sisters wont subsist on only Rs 1500 but will be selfemployed and give jobs to others The schemes for Dalit and Adivasis will also be implemented under this campaign The government will give away awards of Rs 250 crore to wellperforming villages through this abhiyan Fadnavis said reported PTIWith inputs from PTI
