Heavy rainfall and gusty winds have resulted in tree fall fatalities over the past few days. In one such incident, on April 7, a 27-year-old man in an autorickshaw was killed while the driver was injured after a huge tree fell on the vehicle in Thane district, civic officials said recently.
According to the regional disaster management cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), a massive Gulmohar tree fell on the autorickshaw in Thane West around 6 pm. The previous night, three people were killed when a tree fell on a moving autorickshaw in Kolsewadi locality in Kalyan East amid heavy unseasonal showers accompanied by strong winds.
