Stratospheric skydiver killed in glider crash in Italy

Felix Baumgartner, 56, known for his record-setting 2012 stratospheric jump, died in a paragliding crash along Italy’s eastern coast on Friday. His motorised paraglider reportedly crashed into a hotel swimming pool, injuring a young woman present there. Baumgartner had gained global fame for his daring feats in extreme sports and skydiving.

Stratospheric skydiver Felix Baumgartner, 56, died while paragliding along the eastern coast of Italy on Friday. News reports said his motorised paraglider crashed into a swimming pool at a hotel, injuring a young woman there. 

Baumgartner was most widely known for his 2012 jump from the stratosphere,  the highest-ever parachute jump at the time.
